stress character education in the Chicago schools….
“I try to read at least one book or two books a week to the smaller kids in
grade K, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, and we discuss it.
They love the pictures and the vibrant colors that are in the book.
“We were talking today about stranger danger, and I was reading them the book,
No One Will Ever Know, about the squirrels.
They were really paying attention.
When I see that, I feel that it is sinking in.
I’m really excited about that, because these little kids are very
vulnerable, and sometimes they don’t do the right thing.

You have to do the right thing—all the time.
Even when nobody is around, because you will know in your heart you did
the wrong thing. And your books
