You Move -- You Lose
“Prissy and Stubby Bear fight and bicker over
everything. Their stubbornness soon gets them into trouble. This
picture book is filled with forest animals that are very Disney-like in
appearance. The importance of tolerance, cooperation, and friendship is
well conveyed in this story. Although it’s a bit long for a read-a-loud,
the illustrations are very large and colorful so children should enjoy sitting
still for this one. I would suggest this book for use in any library.”
I like this book. It's called, "You Move You Lose"
by Carl Sommer and illustrated by Kennon James. It's mainly about two little
cubs named Stubby and Prissy. It's a book with many pictures. One day, the
little cubs were playing a game. Their mom said that she and Papa Bear would be
right back. Papa Bear asked one of the cubs to shut the door. Neither cub
would volunteer. So, they had a contest. Stubby said, "Nobody talk, nobody
move!" A wolf ran past the door, chasing a kitten. Finally, "Whack!" Prissy hit
the big bad wolf (after letting their entire house be robbed!). Later, Mother
and Father came back. There was a big fight (the children) and things got better
and better. It reminds me to be grateful for my brothers and sisters and to be
kind to them.
Meet Stubby and Prissy, two of the most stubborn
little bears you could ever imagine! Watch them as they learn lessons of
tolerance, friendship and cooperation while getting themselves into all kinds of
trouble. As their constant arguing drives their forest friends away, their
sibling rivalry gets out of hand and makes it necessary to teach them a lesson.
So even though their tale begins with double-trouble, it fortunately ends
happily. The brother and sister learn to be obedient and cooperative, making
their parents and friends proud and happy
